KANAWA, Canada's Paddling Magazine, is pleased to congratulate James Smedley of Wawa, Ontario on his awards from the Outdoor Writers of Canada (OWC) and the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA).

 

In the OWC 2007 National Communications Awards, James received first place in the Photography category for his cover photo from the Fall 2006 issue of KANAWA, supporting his article 'Algoma Outdoors'.

 

In the OWAA awards, James placed third in the Art/Photo category of the Boating and Paddlesports Contest, again for his cover photo on the Fall 2006 issue of KANAWA.

 

He also received third place in the Art/Photo category of the Value of Wilderness to the Outdoor Experience Contest for his image 'Canoe on Beach' and placed first in the Magazine Category of the Family Participation/Youth Outdoor Education Contest for an article titled 'Family N-Ice Time', published in Ontario magazine.
