For 2012 Alberta will see another Paddling Symposium. This year the Symposium will be a multi disciplined event that will be held in the Rocky Mountain House area, June 29th to July 2nd. Activities will take place over the July long weekend, from Friday evening to Monday noon. Partners for this event are Paddle Alberta, Paddle Canada, Haskin Canoe, Hela Ventures, Undercurrents, and your local Paddle Canada and Paddle Alberta Instructors.
The “Sampler” sessions will allow participants to try out the following activities in half day clinics:
If you are interested in focusing on skill development in a certain discipline then we also have 2 day skill development clinics for
River Kayaking Solo & Tandem Whitewater Canoeing
You will also see land clinics and displays on:
more to come
At just $90/person for a weekend clinic entry fee, you don’t want to miss out. If you wish to come, paddle on your own, and just take in the displays and evening sessions the fee is $10/person.
Full weekend options for camping start at $45/person or tent unit and full meal deals at $60/person. The event is open to the public, canoe and kayak clubs, and instructors. There is something for everyone, including children! Childcare services will be available for a small fee.
We are encouraging canoe and clubs to make this weekend part of their tripping schedule for their members to try something new and connect with the larger paddling community.
Registration is now available on the Paddle Alberta website (home page): www.paddlealberta.org.
If you have any questions on registration please contact Karla at the Paddle Alberta office, 1.877.388.2722. If you have any questions on the Symposium itself, please call Priscilla Haskin at 780.237.6117 or 780.922.4324.
See you on the water.
