Atlantic Symposium Cancelled Due to Insufficient Interest

Atlantic Paddling Symposium Cancelled Due to Insufficient Interest

Paddle Canada has decided to cancel the Atlantic Paddling Symposium, to take place in Saint John, NB May 10-13, 2013, due to insufficient levels of interest in the event relative to the financial support being provided by provincial and national paddling associations.  The decision was made after several attempts to increase registrations including individual calls to local paddlers from committee members.  Local interest in the event simply does not warrant the expenditure of revenue (membership revenue) from organizations including Canoe Kayak New Brunswick, Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia and Paddle Canada for the exclusive benefit of a relatively small group.

We thank all coaches, sponsors and registrants for their interest in this year’s and previous year’s symposiums.

Election Results for PC Board of Directors from AGM 2012

Written by Graham Ketcheson on Wednesday, 13 March 2013 10:56 Published in Latest Paddle News

Paddle Canada is pleased to announce the final Director Election results from last Saturdays (March 9) AGM:

Mike Gilbert, British Columbia

Matt Cuccaro, Ontario

Tim White, Nova Scotia

Bryan Sarauer, (re-elected) for Saskatchewan

Congratulations to all four,  and PC's sincere appreciation to the rest of the candidates for their interest in joining the board of directors of Paddle Canada. It was a very close election (by 3 votes in the end over candidate Tony Shaw) for British Columbia and only a slightly larger margin in Ontario at 11 votes between Matt Cuccaro and Stacy Utas.

Thanks to all that participating in the voting process and to those that attended last Saturday's meeting.

The final documents including meeting minutes of Saturday's AGM are now found here for download, including powerpoint or PDF versions of the ED Report and Float Plan for Success:
